PID Eng&Tech has been recently awarded with the first prize of the "2nd Contest of Ideas for Spin-off companies of Researchers" in "Nanotechnology, New Materials and Production Technologies" area, granted by the "Universities and Research General Management". The aim of this contest is to enhance the entrepreneurial initiative at the Universities and Research Centers and to boost the creation of new enterprises with a scientific and technological basis.

PID Eng&Tech was born as a spin-off company with more than 16 years of accumulated experience. The Process Control Group of the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP) of the Spanish Council for MICROACTIVITY-Reference, 2004 MICROACTIVITY-Reference, 2004 Scientific Research (CSIC) , headed by Dr. José Prieto, has devoted its activity since 1989 to the development of technologies dedicated to improving the design, the construction and the operation mode of laboratory-scale reactors and micro-scale pilot plants, and their data acquisition, supervisory and control systems.

The staff that worked for the Process Control Group, formed by experts with multidisciplinary backgrounds in chemical engineering, electronics, automated and software engineering, set up in 2003, in the Scientific Park of Madrid, the company Process Integral Development Eng&Tech, where the experience, technological development and innovations achieved by the group over many years of work in the field of engineering had been put into practice.

The current co-operation between Process Integral Development Eng&Tech S.L. and Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry manifests itself in research projects, which update company's products at the same time as offer a new range of goods and innovations, so that Process Integral Development Eng&Tech S.L. is an unquestionable leader in Product Technology area.

A great deal of control systems applied to carry out the projects of the company is developed by PID Eng&Tech or by ICP and covered by patents. All the control systems used by PID Eng&Tech are based on distributed control and digital communications (directly or via Ethernet) with the central computer for processes.

The activity and the products developed by PID Eng&Tech are aimed at universities and research centres, both private and public sectors, which develop their research activity within the following fields: basic chemistry, petrochemistry, environment; catalysis: catalytic microactivity, MAT; agrochemistry and food technology: supercritical fluid extraction; new energies: fuel cells, renewable energy. During a 16-years-path the reference data of the Process Control Group of the CSIC include: 21 Spanish research centres, 30 universities, 23 companies, 20 European and the Middle Eastern companies and universities.

Besides, the company has a world-wide net of distributors that cover the following countries and areas: Spain, The United States of America, Canada and Mexico, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Benelux, Belgium, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the Middle East.
